Administration and IT Assistant
Media Development Loan Fund (MDLF), a not-for-profit investment fund providing low-cost financing to independent news media in emerging democracies, seeks an Administration and IT Assistant for its New York office. The Administration and IT Assistant is responsible for general office management support and IT assistance under the direction of the Program Associate, and the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and General Counsel.
Responsibilities: Work responsibilities for the Administration and IT Assistant include, but are not limited to:
- General day-to-day office management assistance, including reception, mail-handling, and drafting of basic correspondence
- Basic-to-intermediate IT support, including printer support, as well as full working knowledge of Microsoft Office and familiarity with Lotus Notes
- Financial record management, including organizing and filing bank statements, preparing and distributing monthly credit card account statements, maintaining a database of coded office expenses, maintaining receipts for monthly preparation of staff expense reports, and preparing in-house cash expense reports as needed
- Making domestic and international travel arrangements for US-based staff and all visitors to the New York office, including air travel tickets, ground transportation, hotel reservations
- Maintaining hard copies of all necessary business documents and files, including matching of any related amendments and grants therein, as well as updating the electronic chronological records folder
- Basic office organization and upkeep, including kitchen and conference room, as well as ordering of all necessary office supplies
Qualifications:
- Strong written and communication skills, with a fluency in written English
- Strong organizational skills
- Intermediate IT skill set (Microsoft Office, printer maintenance, and Lotus Notes a plus)
- Several years experience in office management support in a multi-national/multi-cultural environment preferred; experience performing this role in a not-for-profit organization a plus
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills, or at least a minimum level of multicultural understanding
- Bachelor of Arts degree preferred

· $0.5 million through Digital Kiosk, the secure payment service for independent media;
It has written off only 1.91% of the total loaned and invested.
MDLF has returned more than $16.8 million to investors. It ended December 2011 with a portfolio of $40.7 million in outstanding loans and investments.
